skin-line - collab w/ Sara Bernabucci
Skin-line Project #1 Tempelhof Refugee Camp (Berlin)
Collab Art Video about the work of Sara Bernabucci with handprints of refugees in Germany based in the camp of Templehof Feld. The collaboration with this project was on the documentation about the process with photos, audio recording of interviews and an art video to represent the connection between the human material and the art piece done by Bernabucci.
Cultural integration, resources and conflicts of the new multicultural societies have been the focus of the project carried on. This project, selected for Urban Nation Museum Berlin Fresh A.I.R. residence program, started in Tempelhof refugee camp and from there began to expand into other places as Tegel refugee camp (Berlin) and Metropoliz (Rome).
The interweaving of skin wrinkles and scars determine a unique “geographical map” that differs from person to person. This characteristic is often used to identify, isolated or discriminate people. At difference, in this work, the imprints of the skin represent a intercultural bridge and emphasize dignity and uniqueness of each individual. Refugees living in Tempelhof left imprints of their skin to testify their presence. Those imprints were interweaved to form the texture of a big carpet, a kind of human map in which it is not visible streets and buildings, but signs of skin and wrinkles.
The video was part of the open studio in Urban Nation Museum – Berlin, Sept. 2019 – and the exhibition at the Macro Asilo – Rome, Dec. 2019.
